The Academic Network was launched by Cadence in 2007. The aim was to promote the proliferation of leading-edge technologies and methodologies at universities renowned for their engineering and design excellence. A knowledge network among selected universities, research institutes, industry advisors and Cadence was established to facilitate the sharing of technology expertise in the areas of verification, design and implementation of microelectronic systems.

The program provides colleges & universities with leading edge design tools for classroom instruction & academic research to help ensure that engineering graduates enter into industry proficient with state-of-the-art tools & techniques.
As a member of the HEP you will have access to virtually all of Mentor Graphics’ leading edge EDA products, for use in teaching, class work and academic research. Mentor Graphics donates the software and levies a small annual support charge based on the design package(s) used. This support charge is irrespective of the number of licenses used.
The available products are divided into five packages, based on the design area and methodology. The table below shows the packages & their corresponding support prices. When you order your HEP software you will select by package; you will receive licenses & media for all products included in that package.

About the ENIAC Joint Undertaking
The ENIAC Joint Undertaking (JU) is a public-private partnership on nanoelectronics bringing together the ENIAC member States, the European Union, and AENEAS (an association representing European R&D actors in this field).
It coordinates research activities through competitive calls for proposals to enhance the further integration and miniaturization of devices, and increase their functionalities. It shall deliver new materials, equipment and processes, new architectures, innovative manufacturing processes, disruptive design methodologies, new packaging and ‘systemising’ methods. It will drive and be driven by innovative high-tech applications in communication and computing, transport, health care and wellness, energy and environmental management, security and safety, and entertainment.
The ENIAC JU was set up in February 2008 and will allocate grants throughout 2013. The projects selected for funding shall be executed till 31 December 2017. The total value of the R&D activities generated through ENIAC JU is estimated at 3 B€.
